While creating the Shale hand-knotted rug, we looked at sedimentary rock formations and were imagining flakes of clay minerals & tiny fragments of other minerals coming together. That's where the first sketch of Shale was created. The design is broken into layers that run parallel to each other. Handcrafted in 100 bamboo silk in a monochromatic colour palette, this piece can match any space in your home.

Handknotted's are the finest quality rugs. The design is intricately made by highly skilled artisans, who spend months weaving it inch by inch, knot by knot, using yarns of the finest grade.

Weaving a knotted rug requires a great deal of skill as the most intricate and finer details are included inch by inch. The quality of these rugs is determined by the number of knots, the finer the rug, higher the number of knots in a square inch. An artisan takes an entire day to weave just 2 inches.

Handcrafted to perfection each design is a masterpiece. These rugs become family heirlooms passed on for generations.
